Award Winning/Call to Action/Music Video

Filmmakers: Two-Time Emmy Winner Renee Sotile & Mary jo Godges

The inspiration comes from Sotile’s memories working in national news, covering the OJ Simpson Trial of the Century.

American Idol Hollie Cavanagh and Melodye Perry (daughter of Edna Wright and niece of Darlene Love, for music aficionados) bring a resonating voice to the voiceless.

Raising Awareness while Raising the Roof!

"Nicole" is a metaphor for the highly publicized domestic violence story of Nicole Brown Simpson.

Working as a video-journalist, Sotile covered the "Trial of the Century" and never forgot the impact Nicole's death made on her. Imprinted in her mind are the shocked and heartbreaking expressions on the faces of Nicole's family when on October 3, 1995, OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder charges for the deaths, of his ex-wife Nicole, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

Sotile and Godges say their goal behind "I Remember Nicole" is to empower victims and survivors and start conversations, and for the world to remember Nicole and all those who suffered and continue to suffer from abuse.

“LGBTQ members fall victim to domestic violence at equal or even higher rates compared to their heterosexual counterparts.”– NCADV

Message to Educators

Nicole Brown Simpson was a highly public women victimized by domestic violence. By saying her name, hearing her name, people recall the impact her death had on them and our nation. A collective memory of  "where we were" when first hearing OJ Simpson's wife was murdered in 1994. We recall the scenes of the infamous bronco chase, his arrest, the "Trial of the Century," and acquittal.

For the generations following Nicole Brown Simpson, her children's generation and those after, we say her name "Nicole" as a metaphor for domestic violence. "Nicole" is them or someone they know. This generation will ensure that there are #NoMoreNicoles in a call to action through this galvanizing song. One of the most effective communication tools to create awareness, spread knowledge and empower.

This generation's strength at spreading positive messages is like no other. They are the generation that raises awareness across borders. They are the generation that challenges and knocks down boundaries.

#IRememberNicole will empower this generation to raise awareness, change laws and prevent intimate partner violence on the national level.
